A BIT MORE ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Meghan! Thanks for visiting my bio page. I look forward to connecting with you and hearing about your current project. I know how important it is to find an expert copy editor and/or proofreader that you can trust with the book or business content you've worked so hard to create, so please allow me to introduce myself.
I'm originally from the Chicago area, and I studied communication and English at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I chose English specifically because of my love for grammar.
During my senior year of college, I studied abroad in Verona, Italy, and caught the travel bug. After graduating, I spent a year in Madrid working as an au pair, teaching English to the two girls I cared for while immersing myself in Spanish culture (and food).
When I returned to the US, I coordinated conferences for a healthcare trade publication in Chicago then joined the nonprofit sector, planning events for the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois and later leading national development for Lemonade Day at their Houston headquarters. At each organization, I also served as the in-house editor—by leadership’s instructions, nothing important was distributed without my first taking a look at it. I'd always known editing would be my long-term professional path, and these experiences further solidified that plan and passion.
To further strengthen my editing skills, I completed The Art of Proofreading’s course, High-Level Proofreading Pro, in 2019. I am a detail-oriented, efficient freelance copy editor, and I can proudly say that I love what I do.
When we collaborate on your project, you'll find that I'll always work to preserve your voice. As an editor, it's my responsibility to ensure your text is polished and upholds your writing style. Clear, error-free content lends you credibility, while mistakes in your text can undermine all the hard work you've put into it. Let's connect so you can gain the confidence to share the message that you know is ready for the world to read.
